Dementia, a progressive neurological condition, poses certain unique challenges to caregivers. Caring for a person with dementia is an experience that comes with a blend of rewards and hurdles. It requires being there, dealing with varied emotions, and also adapting to progressive changes in the condition. In this process, you as a caregiver remain an anchor for your loved one, providing people in need with physical and emotional support, ease, and reassurance in their hour of deepest need. Caregiving is not a piece of cake as it comes with its own challenges in the form of stress. To overcome these challenges apart from the immense reservoir of empathy you need practical skills.

At Epoch, we recognize the need for caregivers to learn the right skills and knowledge that enable them to overcome all such challenges with confidence and compassion. This is the very reason we have developed our dementia caregiver training program to instill confidence and preparedness in caregivers. Hence, if you are a family member, or you have a house-help at home, who is assisting you in taking care of your loved one with dementia, our program is for you.

Don’t have a clinical background? We have got you covered. Through our training course, we aim to enhance caregivers' understanding of dementia across its spectrum, from early stages to advanced, offering practical skills to navigate the day-to-day demands of caregiving. This will help in enhancing the emotional well-being of your elderly with dementia at home.

Why Our Training Program Stands Out from Others

We know that caregiving can be extremely rewarding, yet overwhelming at times. We understand that the regular househelps at home who take care of your elderly would not have enough professional knowledge or experience to take care of your elderly at home that's where our training program comes in to lighten the load by giving all of you practical skills that make a difference. By hands-on learning, we'll provide you with the tools needed to feel confident in managing the day-to-day challenges of dementia care. And don't worry—you don't need much professional experience to begin. Our program is for anyone whether you are a new caregiver or an experienced one. Effective ways to handle behaviors, manage caregiving tasks, and confidence in performing caregiving service will be inculcated through our program. Last but not least, we believe in care that is bound by empathy and ensures emotional well-being for both you and the one in your care as you navigate this journey.

Key Skills You’ll Gain Through Our Training Program

Our training program is a comprehensive training course that will impart the skills that will enable you and/or your househelp who is currently being the caregiver, to approach caregiving with empathy. You will gain skills on how to improve communication and minimize conflict. Person-centered care is at the heart of all we do. You will be learning to create concrete care plans that address the wants and needs of the person you are supporting. Sometimes a person with dementia may become aggressive or agitated, or may wander around (which you may have faced many times); we will tell you how to control the situation and behave correctly during such episodes. You will also learn how to support your loved one with basic tasks such as dressing, bathing, washing, and feeding among others without compromising on his or her dignity. Establishing safety is the key factor and through this program, you will learn how to redesign the environment in order to make the living spaces of your home safe and comfortable for the person with dementia. The program will also help you to engage the person with dementia in meaningful ways to delay the stage progression.
